Add or create a Shopify store in AutoDS

Compare the four ways to start with Shopify, from an existing store to an AI-built, professionally designed, or manual store, and resolve store limit, authorization, and connection messages.

Before you can import products and manage orders in your Shopify store through AutoDS, the store needs to be connected to your AutoDS account, either by connecting a store you already have or by creating a new one. This article explains the four ways to add a Shopify store, what to check before you connect, how to configure and identify your connected store, and how to resolve store limit, authorization, and wrong store connection errors.

Once your store is connected, you can import products, manage listings, automate order fulfillment, and manage your entire dropshipping operation from one platform. You can also add Build Your Store (BYS), an AI-powered platform that launches a fully designed Shopify store without technical skills, and follow the free AutoDS course for Shopify sellers, which includes a cheat sheet with the key steps to launch and grow your store.

Key points about connecting or creating a Shopify store

  • There are four ways to add a Shopify store to AutoDS. Connect a store you already have (Existing Shopify Store), build a new one with AI (AI Pre-built Shopify Store), get a designed one-product store (Professional One Product Store), or create it yourself in Shopify (Create a Shop Manually).

  • Always start the setup from the AutoDS platform. Installing the AutoDS app first from the Shopify App Store can cause connection errors.

  • An account registered through the Shopify App Store works with Shopify only. To add other selling channels, register a separate AutoDS account on autods.com with a different email address.

  • Your Shopify store works with two subscriptions. Shopify keeps the store online, starting with a trial of 3 days free and then $1 per month for 3 months, and AutoDS gives you the tools to import products and manage orders, with optional automation.

  • The Professional One Product Store is a one-time payment of $97. Build Your Store (BYS) bills it, not AutoDS.

  • Some settings live in AutoDS and others in Shopify. AutoDS manages the store connection and how supplier products are listed, priced, monitored, and ordered, and Shopify manages the store itself: domain, shipping, payments, SEO, and policies.

  • Each subscription plan has a store limit. The Shopify Starter plan supports one store, and the plan card in "Settings" → "Plans & Add-ons" shows the stores connected and the stores your plan allows.

Benefits of using AutoDS with Shopify

Shopify is an e-commerce platform and one of AutoDS's main partners, which makes it one of the best options if you want to invest in dropshipping: you build your own online store with full control over its branding, design, and policies, and you can grow a long-term brand. It is easy to use, highly scalable, and offers AI-powered tools that help you pre-build your store. Using AutoDS with your Shopify store brings your whole dropshipping operation into one platform. The integration gives you:

  • A seamless integration with your Shopify store for quick setup and management.

  • Product import and publishing in a few clicks from multiple suppliers.

  • Automated order fulfillment and price updates that save time and reduce errors.

  • Centralized product and order management from the AutoDS platform.

  • A new store with AI-generated setup for new stores.

  • Products ready to sell with the curated products preloaded in AI Pre-built Shopify Stores.

  • More products from the AutoDS Marketplace, tailored to your niche.

Before you connect your Shopify store

Before you connect your Shopify store to AutoDS, check which subscriptions you need, how your AutoDS account was registered, where the setup starts, and whether your store is ready to publish products.

AutoDS and Shopify subscriptions: what each one gives you

When you connect a Shopify store to AutoDS, two subscriptions work together, whether you connect a store you already have or create a new one. Shopify provides the store where you showcase your products and where your buyers check out, and AutoDS provides the tools to find products, add them to your store, and manage your products and orders from one platform, with the option to automate prices, stock, and fulfillment. Together, they give you a complete dropshipping operation, and each subscription covers what the other does not.

What each subscription gives you:

  • The Shopify subscription keeps your store online, with its hosting, checkout, and store management. Each selling channel has its own subscription, managed separately from your AutoDS subscription. Shopify offers new stores a 3-day free trial, then $1 per month for 3 months, and after that, the monthly price of the Shopify plan you choose. The plans and prices are on the Shopify pricing page.

  • The AutoDS subscription plan gives you the tools to import products from suppliers, manage your products and orders in one place, and automate prices, stock, and orders when you want to.

How the two subscriptions work, depending on how you add your Shopify store:

  • A store you already have: Your existing Shopify subscription keeps your store running, and AutoDS gives you the tools to import products and manage your products and orders in it.

  • AI Pre-built Shopify Store and Create a Shop Manually: You start a new Shopify subscription during the setup, which begins with the Shopify trial.

  • Professional One Product Store: You also start a new Shopify subscription during the setup, and the expert-designed store is a one-time $97 purchase from Build Your Store (BYS), separate from AutoDS and Shopify.

AutoDS shows only Shopify: register your account on autods.com

Register your AutoDS account directly on autods.com, as explained in how to sign up for AutoDS, and not through the Shopify App Store. Your AutoDS account is the one you log in to with your email address, and within it, each store (selling channel), such as Shopify or Amazon, has its own subscription plan.

When you register through the Shopify App Store, your account is created with a Shopify subscription plan, billed through Shopify, and the account is restricted to Shopify stores. The same applies to an account registered through the app store of another platform, such as Wix, which is restricted to stores from that platform.

If you registered through the Shopify App Store, you will notice that:

  • AutoDS shows only Shopify when you add a store and keeps prompting you to connect a Shopify store.

  • "Plans & Add-ons" does not offer the option to add another store (selling channel) to your AutoDS account.

  • Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Facebook, TikTok Shop, Wix, and WooCommerce stores do not appear as options to add.

If you registered through the Shopify App Store and want to add another store (selling channel) to your AutoDS account, such as an Amazon, eBay, or Etsy store, you have two options:

  1. Keep your Shopify-registered AutoDS account and create a second AutoDS account. Register a new AutoDS account on autods.com with a different email address, and add your other stores to it. You then have two AutoDS accounts, each with its own email address and its own subscription plans. A store can be connected to only one AutoDS account at a time, so your Shopify store stays in your first account.

  2. Cancel your Shopify-registered AutoDS account and create a new one. Register a new AutoDS account on autods.com with a different email address, and connect your Shopify store and your other stores to it. The steps are in the next section.

Cancel your Shopify-registered AutoDS account and create a new one

An account registered through the Shopify App Store stays linked to Shopify and cannot be changed, so to add other stores you need a new AutoDS account. Canceling your AutoDS subscription cancels the Shopify subscription plan and closes the AutoDS account, which also disconnects your Shopify store from it.

To cancel your Shopify-registered AutoDS account and create a new one:

  1. Check your next billing date. In "Settings" → "Account & Billing", check the date shown as "Next billing cycle" in the "Payment Method" section. Cancel before that date to avoid a new charge, because if the billing date comes first, you can be charged for the next billing cycle.

  2. Cancel your AutoDS subscription. Go to "Settings" → "Account & Billing", click "Manage/Cancel Account", and follow the steps, as explained in how to cancel your AutoDS subscription. This cancels the Shopify subscription plan and closes the AutoDS account. This is enough to stop future AutoDS subscription charges, and no action is needed in your Shopify admin.

  3. Register a new AutoDS account on autods.com with a different email address, because closing the account does not remove the Shopify-only restriction.

  4. Choose a subscription plan and connect your Shopify store again, the same way you connected it before. Because the store was connected to the previous AutoDS account, AutoDS asks you to upgrade from the trial to a paid subscription plan right away. You can also connect stores from other selling channels and manage all of them in one place.

Before you cancel, keep in mind that:

  • AutoDS deletes the data of a canceled account permanently after 14 days. AutoDS does not transfer data between accounts and does not offer an export of products or orders, so copy any information you need before canceling.

  • Your listings stay in Shopify without AutoDS monitoring. After you reconnect the store, they appear as Untracked Products, and you connect them to AutoDS to monitor them again.

  • Refunds are evaluated individually by the billing team in accordance with the Terms of Service available at the time of account and subscription registration.

Start the setup from the AutoDS platform

Start the Shopify setup from the AutoDS platform, and let the guided setup take you to the Shopify App Store. Installing the AutoDS app manually from the Shopify App Store before finishing the guided setup can cause synchronization errors and connection disruptions.

If you already installed the AutoDS app manually:

  1. Uninstall the AutoDS app from your Shopify account.

  2. Restart the entire setup through the AutoDS platform.

With the AI Pre-built Shopify Store and Create a Shop Manually, AutoDS connects the app automatically, so no manual installation is needed.

Check that your Shopify store is ready

Before you connect your Shopify store to AutoDS, check that:

  • Your Shopify subscription is active. Selling on Shopify requires an active Shopify subscription.

  • Your store is active and fully set up in Shopify.

  • A test product uploads without blockers. Upload one product directly in Shopify to confirm that your store can publish products, which helps you find store configuration blockers early in the process.

Add a Shopify store to AutoDS: choose how to connect or create it

When you add a Shopify store to AutoDS, you choose whether to connect a store you already have or to create a new one, and AutoDS shows all the options on one screen.

To add a Shopify store and see the options:

  1. Go to the left menu of the AutoDS platform.

  2. Click "Add Store". If you already have a store connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name, and then click "+ Add Store" in the pop-up.

  3. Select "Shopify Store" from the list of stores (selling channels) in the "Select store type" window.

  4. Click "Continue".

AutoDS opens the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen with the options.

During registration, you reach the same options at the step where you connect your first store, and in most registration flows an offer for the Professional One Product Store appears first. In some registration flows, AutoDS connects the Shopify store automatically, so the options are skipped.

The four options at a glance

On the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen, you see three cards and the "Create a Shop Manually" link below the "Continue" button. Each option has its own section below, with the steps. Choose the option that fits your situation:

  1. Connect a store you already have (Existing Shopify Store). This option is ideal if you already have an established Shopify store and want to add AutoDS automation features. You connect your existing store directly to AutoDS, keeping all your current products, settings, and branding intact, and you gain access to automation tools for order fulfillment, price monitoring, and inventory management.

  2. Have AutoDS build a new store with AI (AI Pre-built Shopify Store). This option creates a fully functional Shopify store. AutoDS builds your store based on your selected niche and automatically adds 10 trending products, so you can start selling right away. It is for new store creation only and cannot be applied to an existing Shopify store connected to AutoDS. During setup, you can also choose homepage banners (hero banners) for your new store. It is a good fit for beginners who want a ready-to-sell store without spending hours on setup.

  3. Get a professionally designed one-product store (Professional One Product Store). This is a full Shopify store creation service powered by Build Your Store (BYS) Pro, for a one-time payment of $97. It includes an expert-designed store, a store built for 1 product, a sales funnel, and fast US shipping. When you select this option and click "Continue", AutoDS processes the $97 payment and the BYS Pro store creation flow begins.

  4. Create a Shopify store yourself (Create a Shop Manually). Click the "Create a Shop Manually" link below the "Continue" button to have complete control over your store creation from the beginning. AutoDS redirects you to Shopify in the same tab to create your store, and you click "Claim store" to connect it to AutoDS. Once your store is live, you can complete your store setup in Shopify (theme, payment gateways, shipping, and policies) while you continue your AutoDS onboarding in another tab.

Each option works with an AutoDS subscription plan and a Shopify subscription, as explained in how the two subscriptions work together.

The Professional One Product Store offer during onboarding

If you are adding your first Shopify store during the AutoDS registration process, a full-screen offer titled "Professional One Product Store Ready to Launch" appears before the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen in most registration flows. The offer is for the Professional One Product Store, a full Shopify store creation service powered by BYS Pro, for a one-time payment of $97.

  • To accept the offer, click "YES, GET MY PROFESSIONAL STORE NOW!". AutoDS processes the $97 payment, and the BYS Pro store creation flow begins immediately.

  • To pass on the offer, click "No, I understand I'm passing on this SPECIAL OFFER". AutoDS takes you to the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen with the other options.

Option 1: Connect your existing Shopify store

Connecting a store you already have (Existing Shopify Store) gives you access to all AutoDS features without creating a new store, and your current products, settings, and branding stay as they are.

Connect a store you already have if you:

  • Have an established Shopify store with traffic and sales.

  • Want to add automation to your existing dropshipping workflow.

  • Prefer to keep your current store design and branding.

  • Want to expand your product catalog with AutoDS suppliers and the AutoDS Marketplace.

Start the connection from the AutoDS platform, not from the Shopify App Store, as explained here.

To connect your existing Shopify store to AutoDS:

  1. Click "Add Store" in the left menu. If you already have a store connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name, and then "+ Add Store".

  2. Select "Shopify Store" from the list of stores (selling channels).

  3. Click "Continue".

  4. Select the "Existing Shopify Store" card on the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen.

  5. Click "Continue".

  6. Install the AutoDS app from the Shopify App Store. AutoDS redirects you to the Shopify App Store. Search for AutoDS: AI Dropshipping & POD and click "Install".

  7. Authorize the connection. On the Shopify install screen, click "Install app".

  8. Return to AutoDS. Shopify redirects you automatically back to AutoDS, and your existing Shopify store is connected to your AutoDS account.

To confirm which Shopify store is connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name in the left menu of AutoDS, which shows all the stores connected to your AutoDS account.

Option 2: Create an AI Pre-built Shopify Store

If you do not have a Shopify store yet, AutoDS offers another way to get started: it builds a store for you with AI (AI Pre-built Shopify Store). You choose a niche and your homepage banners, and AutoDS creates a fully functional store with a professional design and 10 trending products already loaded, so you can start selling sooner instead of spending hours on store setup and product research. The AI Pre-built Shopify Store is for new store creation only, so to connect a Shopify store you already have, use the option to connect an existing store.

When to use the AI Pre-built Shopify Store

Build a Shopify store with AI through AutoDS if you:

  • Are starting a new dropshipping business and do not have a Shopify store yet.

  • Want to test a new niche quickly without spending hours on store setup.

  • Prefer a ready-to-sell store with curated products already loaded.

  • Want to save time and avoid the complexity of building a store manually.

Steps to build your Shopify store with AI

To build your Shopify store with AI, follow the steps below, which start from the AutoDS platform and then guide you through the store setup. The order of the first steps can differ depending on how you start.

To build and configure your new Shopify store with AI:

  1. Click "Add Store" in the left menu. If you already have a store connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name, and then "+ Add Store".

  2. Select "Shopify Store" from the list of stores (selling channels).

  3. Click "Continue".

  4. Select the "AI Pre-built Shopify Store" card on the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen.

  5. Click "Continue". AutoDS guides you through the steps below.

  6. Select your niche. Choose the category that best represents your business from the available options.

  7. Choose your homepage banners. Pick 2 images to add to your new store's homepage. You can change them later through Shopify customization. This step is part of the new store creation flow only and is not available for existing Shopify stores connected to AutoDS.

  8. Claim Your Store: AutoDS has already built your Shopify store. Select the "Claim My Store" button to be taken to Shopify in the same tab to sign in.

  9. Click Claim Store (if you do

not have a Shopify account yet, you can create one during this step).

  10. Start Your $1 Shopify Trial: Shopify opens its checkout page in the same tab. Enter your payment details and click Subscribe for $1 to start your 3-month trial.

  11. Choose Your Shopify Plan: Shopify then shows the plan selection page. Your $1 trial is already applied, so choose the plan that fits your store: Basic, Grow, or Advanced. AutoDS brings you back to the platform automatically.

  12. If a payment verification prompt appears after you return, click Verify Payment or Open the Shopify store plan to complete the payment and try again.

  13. Store AI Customization: Click Customize My Store. AutoDS AI customizes your store design automatically. This takes under a minute.

  14. Publish Your Store: Click Access Shopify (opens in a new tab). In your Shopify settings, uncheck Restrict access to visitors with a password. Click Save. Return to the AutoDS tab and click Continue.

  15. Your store is live. Click Access My Store to start managing it.

If you need to pause and return later, your progress is saved on the same browser and device. If you return on a different device or after clearing your browser, you restart from the beginning of your store setup flow, and your Shopify store remains safe on Shopify.

The $1 per month charge for the 3-month Shopify trial is billed by Shopify, not by AutoDS. For questions about this charge, please reach out to Shopify directly.

What happens after your AI store is built

Once your AI Pre-built Shopify Store is created:

  • AutoDS adds 10 trending products based on your selected niche during the "Store AI Customization" step.

  • The products are carefully curated to help you start selling immediately without spending hours on product research.

  • The products are fully uploaded with titles, descriptions, images, and pricing.

  • A free .store domain is included: It is free for the first year, then $5.5 per month, and you claim it in the Store Setup Guide.

After your store is live, you can customize everything to match your brand, including banners, layout, color schemes, and fonts, directly in Shopify. If you do not like any of the preloaded products, you can delete them in AutoDS and add new ones from the AutoDS Marketplace that better match your preferences and target audience.

Tips for your Shopify store

To make your product pages look better, use AutoDS AI Product Page Templates, which improve products already published in your store and new products before they go live.

Option 3: Professional One Product Store

If you want a professionally designed store built around one winning product, AutoDS offers another option: the Professional One Product Store, a full Shopify store creation service powered by Build Your Store (BYS) Pro, for a one-time payment of $97. It includes an expert-designed store built around one curated winning product, a sales funnel, and a fast US shipping setup, so your store is ready to launch without you designing it. You choose it as the third option when you add a new Shopify store to your AutoDS account.

When you create your AutoDS account, a separate offer for the same store can also appear during onboarding, before you add any store. Accepting that offer starts the same store creation flow, so the steps from "Select Your Niche" onward apply to both ways of getting the Professional One Product Store.

To get the Professional One Product Store when you add a store to your AutoDS account:

  1. Click "Add Store" in the left menu. If you already have a store connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name, and then "+ Add Store".

  2. Select "Shopify Store" from the list of stores (selling channels).

  3. Click "Continue".

  4. Select the "Professional One Product Store" card on the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen.

  5. Click "Confirm". AutoDS processes the $97 payment, and the BYS Pro store creation flow begins.

  6. Choose your niche. On the "Select Your Niche" screen, choose the niche that fits your interests and target audience, or "I'm not sure", and click "Continue".

  7. Choose your banners. On the "Choose 2 Banners for Your Homepage" screen, select two of the six banners AutoDS designed for your store homepage and click "Continue".

  8. Claim your store. On the "Claim Your Store on Shopify" screen, click "Claim My Store". AutoDS takes you to Shopify, where you sign in or create your Shopify account if asked, and click "Claim store". This also authorizes the installation of the AutoDS app in your store, and Shopify brings you back to AutoDS.

  9. Activate your Shopify trial. On the "Activate Your $1 Shopify Trial" screen, click "Open Payment Page in a New Tab", subscribe on the Shopify page, and then return to the AutoDS tab. Keep the AutoDS tab open while you subscribe. Shopify charges $1 per month for 3 months.

  10. Customize your store. On the "Store AI Customization" screen, click "Customize My Store". AutoDS customizes your store with AI.

  11. Publish your store. On the "Publish Your Store" screen, follow the step-by-step instructions to complete the process. After following the steps on Shopify, click "Continue" in AutoDS.

  12. Access your store. When "Your Shopify Store Is Live!" appears, click "Access My Store" to start managing it.

If the payment does not go through, you can retry using the same or a different payment method, or continue without purchasing.

If you cancel during the purchase flow before completing the purchase, you return to the store selection screen, and no charge is applied.

The $97 is billed by BYS, not by AutoDS. The Professional One Product Store is powered by Build Your Store (BYS), which has separate billing from AutoDS, so the $97 charge does not appear as "AutoDS" in your billing statement. If you were charged without completing the purchase, or did not receive store access after payment, please share a screenshot with us for agent review.

For questions specific to the BYS store creation process, refer to the Build Your Store help article.

Option 4: Create a Shopify store manually

If you want to set up your Shopify store yourself, from the first design decision, AutoDS offers another option: Create a Shop Manually. AutoDS takes you to Shopify to create your store and connects it to your AutoDS account when you claim it, so you stay in control of your store setup from the beginning. To get this option when you add a store to AutoDS, click the "Create a Shop Manually" link below the "Continue" button on the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen.

Create a Shopify store manually if you:

  • Want complete control over your store design and structure from day one.

  • Have specific branding requirements that need to be set up during initial store creation.

  • Prefer to build your store step by step at your own pace.

  • Want to familiarize yourself with the Shopify platform before adding automation.

To create your Shopify store manually:

  1. Click "Add Store" in the left menu. If you already have a store connected, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name, and then "+ Add Store".

  2. Select "Shopify Store" from the list of stores (selling channels).

  3. Click "Continue".

  4. Click "Create a Shop Manually" below the "Continue" button on the "Let's connect your Shopify store" screen. AutoDS opens the "Claim Your Store on Shopify" page.

  5. Claim your store. Click "Claim My Store". AutoDS takes you to Shopify in the same tab, where you sign in or create your Shopify account. Once you are set up, click "Claim store" to connect the store to AutoDS. AutoDS brings you back to the platform automatically.

  6. Activate your $1 Shopify trial. Click "Open Payment Page in a New Tab" and keep the AutoDS tab open while you complete the payment.

  7. On the Shopify "Checkout" page, subscribe to your desired plan, which includes the trial ($1 per month for 3 months), then enter your payment details and click "Subscribe". Shopify charges the $1 each month, not AutoDS. Return to the AutoDS tab when done.

  8. Verify your Shopify trial. On the "Verify Your Shopify Trial" page, click "Continue". If the payment hasn't been verified yet, the message "Oops! It looks like we couldn't verify your payment." appears. You can reopen the Shopify plan page to complete the payment and try again.

  9. Access your store. Your store is live. Click "Access My Store" to open your Shopify store, where you can complete your store setup, including business information, theme, payment gateways, shipping zones, and store policies, as explained here. You can keep going with your AutoDS onboarding in another tab at the same time.

The AutoDS app is connected automatically when you claim your store, so no manual installation from the Shopify App Store is needed. Once your store is live, you configure your Shopify store settings, including theme selection, payment setup, shipping configuration, and policy pages.

Before you connect the store to AutoDS, we recommend checking that your Shopify store is ready, including uploading a test product directly in Shopify to find store configuration blockers early.

Configure your Shopify store

After your store is connected to AutoDS, configuring your Shopify store gives your buyers a professional and trustworthy buying experience. A well-configured store reduces cart abandonment, builds customer confidence, increases conversion rates, and lowers the risk of failed checkouts or compliance issues, so complete each area before you launch your marketing campaigns. These settings apply to every Shopify store connected to AutoDS, whichever option you used: connecting a store you already have, the AI Pre-built Shopify Store, the Professional One Product Store, or creating the store manually.

Which settings you configure in AutoDS and which in Shopify

Some settings are configured in AutoDS, and others directly in Shopify, and each place controls a different part of your dropshipping store. This table shows what each place controls, with a few examples of the settings you find there. Settings that apply only to Shopify stores are marked as Shopify stores only.

What you manage

Store Settings in AutoDS

The connection between AutoDS and your store and the branding elements linked to it. Examples:

  • "Renew Token" and "Resync Store". For Shopify stores only, changes made directly in Shopify sync into AutoDS automatically, and Resync Store updates AutoDS with the latest data from your Shopify store.

  • The watermark on your product images.

  • Your branding logo for invoices and gift cards from supported AutoDS private suppliers.

  • Your .store domain.

  • The "Default Currency", which follows the currency you set in Shopify.

How the products from each supplier are listed, priced, monitored, and ordered, with a tab for each: "Lister", "Pricing", "Orders", and "General". Examples:

  • "Include shipping price" and "Compare price" in the "Pricing" tab. "Compare price" is for Shopify stores only.

  • "Ship to Country", "Minimum Product Quantity", and "Maximum Shipping Days" in the "General" tab.

Shopify

Your store itself: how it looks, what your buyers pay with, and where you ship. Examples:

  • Your domain, navigation, and product pages.

  • Your shipping zones, markets and currency, and payments.

  • Your SEO and store policies.

Essential Shopify store settings

Properly configuring these core settings in Shopify establishes your store's foundation and ensures smooth operations from day one. This table lists each area with the recommended setup.

Area

Recommendation

Domain

Create a new domain or connect an existing domain. A free .store domain is available: it is free for the first year, then $5.5 per month, and you can claim it in the Store Setup Guide.

Locations and shipping

Enable and configure shipping zones. Add clear delivery estimates (7 to 15 days is ideal for international dropshipping). Include tracking information in order confirmation emails.

Markets and currency

Start with USD for simplicity. When you expand internationally, enable local currencies to allow automatic conversions. AutoDS reads your store currency from Shopify, and the steps to update it in AutoDS are in the multi-currency setup.

Navigation menu

Create clear site navigation with categories like Shop, About Us, Contact, and FAQ. Make it easy for customers to find products and information.

Payments

Configure secure and reliable payment gateways, such as Shopify Payments or PayPal. Verify regional availability before launch.

Product presentation

Make sure product pages include clear titles, persuasive descriptions, and high-quality images or videos that show the item in use. Include trust signals like customer reviews or secure checkout icons. We recommend AI Product Page Templates for Shopify sellers.

SEO and identity

Set up the SEO title and meta description. Add a professional favicon. Fill in the store tagline and contact information. We recommend AutoDS AI Rewrite.

Store policies

Add clear refund, privacy, shipping, and terms of service policies. Use Shopify's policy generator if needed.

Shopify manages questions about access to your Shopify account, such as two-factor authentication (2FA) prompts, security verification requests, or login blocks. Please reach out to Shopify through its contact page for these. If you have questions about how this affects your AutoDS account, please let us know, and we will guide you.

How to identify the connected Shopify store

If you are not sure which Shopify store is connected to your AutoDS account, you can check it in AutoDS and confirm it in Shopify.

To confirm which Shopify store is currently linked to your AutoDS account:

  1. In AutoDS, click the pencil icon (✎) next to your store name in the left menu.

  2. In the window that opens, find your Shopify stores and check the store name. If you have more than one selling channel connected to your AutoDS account, look for the list of Shopify stores.

In this window, the three dots (⋮) next to each store name also give you access to these actions for that store:

  3. In your Shopify admin, check the domain. Go to "Settings" → "Domains" and confirm that the primary domain matches the store name shown in AutoDS. A store renamed in AutoDS can show a different name because renaming only changes the name AutoDS displays.

If the store is not the one you expect, see how to fix a different Shopify store connected to AutoDS.

Additional tools: Build Your Store and ZipStore

Build Your Store (BYS) and ZipStore are standalone platforms that work alongside AutoDS: BYS creates a full store, and ZipStore creates single-product pages. Each one has its own account, dashboard, and billing.

Build Your Store (BYS): AI-powered Shopify store creation

If you want a fully designed Shopify store without design or technical skills, Build Your Store (BYS) is a standalone AI-powered platform that builds one for you. It selects a niche-matched theme and sets up banners and product pages, and on the Pro plan it also adds conversion-focused copy, a fast US shipping setup, and a curated winning product.

As an AutoDS user, you can create a store designed by BYS directly during your AutoDS store setup: choose the Professional One Product Store, the third option, as explained in the steps for the Professional One Product Store.

If you already have a Shopify store and want the same professional, conversion-optimized design without building it yourself, you can create a new store on the BYS platform:

  1. Register through the BYS website.

  2. Sign in with your existing Shopify account when BYS takes you to Shopify at the start of the flow.

BYS creates a new store within the same Shopify account, and you keep using AutoDS to source and fulfill products on it the same way you already do. Settings, products, and themes from your existing store do not carry over to the new BYS store.

BYS is a separate platform from Shopify and AutoDS, each with its own account, billing, and support team:

  • Build Your Store (BYS): Handles your store creation and plan. For questions about the store creation process, plan features, and setup flow, please reach out to the BYS support team directly.

  • Shopify: Manages your store hosting and subscription at the monthly price of the Shopify plan you choose, as listed on the Shopify pricing page. For Shopify questions, visit the Shopify Help Center.

  • AutoDS: Continues to handle product sourcing and order fulfillment on your new store, the same way it already does for your other stores.

You also need to budget for domain renewal fees, charged annually by your domain provider. For plans, pricing, the full setup flow, and billing, see the Build Your Store help article.

ZipStore: Professional product page builder

If you want a professional page for a single product, ZipStore is a standalone product page builder with its own account and subscription that creates conversion-optimized product pages for your Shopify store. Unlike BYS, ZipStore focuses on single-product pages rather than full store creation.

You can open ZipStore directly from the "Winning Product Shopify Store" button, which takes you to the ZipStore platform and appears:

ZipStore billing works in two ways:

  • The ZipStore platform subscription, bought directly on platform.zipstore.com, has its own billing, separate from your AutoDS and Shopify subscriptions.

  • The ZipStore Store Builder add-on, bought through AutoDS, is billed by AutoDS and appears on your AutoDS invoice.

For pricing, setup, and support for the ZipStore platform subscription, refer to the ZipStore Help Center.

Shopify store connection errors: how to fix them

When AutoDS or Shopify shows a message while you connect your store, the message points to the cause. Each section below starts with that message or symptom and gives the steps to resolve it.

The store you are trying to connect is already linked to another account

AutoDS shows the message "The store you are trying to connect is already linked to another account. In order to connect an already existing store, you must upgrade from Trial" when the store was previously connected to a different AutoDS account. A store can be connected to only one AutoDS account at a time, and connecting it to your current account needs a paid subscription plan, because the trial eligibility was used on the previous account.

If you know which AutoDS account the store was linked to, you have three options:

  • Connect the store to your current account: Upgrade from the trial to a paid subscription plan on your current account, and then connect the store. A paid plan is required even if this is your first time using this account.

  • Regain access to the previous account: Log out of any AutoDS account, and then register again with the same email address and password used for the original account.

  • Keep using the trial: Continue on the original account and add VA users there.

If you are not sure which AutoDS account the store was linked to, many sellers sign up with a different email address by mistake. Recover access first by resetting the password with each email address that you may have used. If you are still not sure, please let us know. An agent can look up the account associated with your store and help you decide how to proceed.

If your current account already has a paid plan and the message still appears, please let us know so we can verify the store connection history and guide the next steps.

If you want to move the store connection to a different AutoDS account, please share a screenshot of a page in your Shopify admin "Settings" where the store name is visible and that only the store owner can open, as proof that you own the store.

This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store

This message can appear when the guided setup redirects you to the Shopify App Store to install the AutoDS app. It comes from a temporary redirect of the app, and it does not relate to your account or your Shopify plan.

To resolve it:

  1. Close the Shopify App Store tab and return to AutoDS.

  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  3. Restart the guided setup from the beginning: click the pencil icon (✎) in the left menu, click "+ Add Store", select "Shopify Store", click "Continue", select the "Existing Shopify Store" card, and click "Continue", as explained in the steps to connect your existing store.

  4. Try a different browser or an incognito window if the message appears again.

If none of these steps resolve it, please let us know so we can investigate further.

This app is not compatible with Markets

When you install the AutoDS app on Shopify, you may see a warning stating that the app is not compatible with Shopify Markets, which can impact the functionality of certain features and result in incorrect behavior.

Disregard this warning message. This is a standard compatibility notice from Shopify, but the AutoDS application operates as intended across all markets you have configured in your Shopify store. You can proceed with the installation by clicking "Install app" and continuing to use AutoDS normally with your Shopify Markets enabled. If you experience any actual functionality issues after installation, let us know.

Authorization failed

The message "Authorization failed" appears when the installation of the AutoDS app did not receive the permissions it needs. AutoDS needs the permissions that Shopify requests during the installation to work with the data of your store.

To resolve it:

  1. Log in to Shopify as the store owner, or with an account that has admin access.

  2. Reinstall the AutoDS app, starting from the AutoDS platform, as explained in the steps to connect your existing store.

  3. Accept all the permissions that Shopify requests during the installation.

Why does it say I have too many stores connected?

AutoDS shows a message such as "You have 2 stores, which is more than the 1 allowed store in this package." when more Shopify stores are connected to your AutoDS account than your subscription plan allows. Each subscription plan tier has a store limit, and the Shopify Starter plan supports one store only. You can complete the plan purchase once the number of connected stores matches your plan.

The message can also appear after you delete extra stores in your Shopify admin, because a deleted Shopify store can remain registered as connected in AutoDS until the connection record is removed.

To see how many stores your plan allows, open "Settings" → "Plans & Add-ons": the plan card shows "Stores" with the number of connected stores and the number your plan allows.

You have two ways forward:

  • Upgrade your subscription plan to a tier that supports the number of Shopify stores you want to keep.

  • Keep one store: If you only need one store, please share your account email address and the name of the store you want to keep, and we will remove the other connection for you.

Deleting a store from AutoDS needs an active account, which is why we remove the connection for you while the plan purchase is pending. Once your account is active, you can delete a store from AutoDS yourself.

Renew Token shows an error

Renewing the token is a technical process with no charge, which restores the connection between AutoDS and your Shopify store when the token expires or is revoked. The Renew token steps explain when to renew it and how.

If your AutoDS subscription is billed through Shopify and your account is on hold, the payment method in "Settings" → "Account & Billing" shows as Shopify, and the "Edit" button does not appear. In this case, "Renew Token" reactivates your account:

  1. Log in to your AutoDS account.

  2. Click "Renew Token" on the banner or pop-up shown in your AutoDS account.

  3. Approve the AutoDS subscription charge on the Shopify page that opens.

Your AutoDS account reactivates once the charge is approved in Shopify.

If clicking "Renew Token" shows an error:

  1. Log out of your Shopify account and your AutoDS account.

  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  3. Log back in to your AutoDS account.

  4. Click "Renew Token" again and approve the AutoDS subscription charge in Shopify.

If the error continues, please let us know and share a screen recording of what happens when you click "Renew Token".

If you open AutoDS from your Shopify store and see "Account Status: Temporary Hold - An open billing dispute has paused your access", your account is blocked by a payment dispute, and "Renew Token" does not reactivate it. See the steps for an account blocked by a payment dispute.

AutoDS shows a different Shopify store than mine

AutoDS can connect to a Shopify store you did not choose, for example, the initial store that Shopify created for you.

First, check which store is active. In AutoDS, click the pencil icon (✎) next to the store name, leave only the store you want to use checked, and click "Update", as explained in how to switch between stores.

If the wrong store is connected to your account, remove it and connect the correct one:

  1. Click the pencil icon (✎) next to the store name in the left menu.

  2. Click the three dots (⋮) next to the wrong store and select "Delete". Deleting a store cannot be undone, so confirm that it is the store you want to remove before you proceed.

  3. Log in to the correct Shopify store.

  4. Connect the correct store through the AutoDS app, as explained in the steps to connect your existing store.

If you installed the AutoDS app manually from Shopify, uninstall it first and restart the setup from the AutoDS platform, as explained in how to start the setup from the AutoDS platform.

To confirm that you are connected to the right store, check that the primary domain in your Shopify admin matches the store name shown in AutoDS, as explained in how to identify the connected Shopify store.

My Shopify store does not appear in AutoDS

A Shopify store may not appear in AutoDS when the connection was not finalized, or while the synchronization is still completing.

To bring the store back into view:

  1. Refresh your browser, or log out and log back in to AutoDS.

  2. Check the email address shown at the top right of AutoDS. If you have more than one AutoDS account, you may be logged in to a different account than the one where the store is connected.

  3. Wait for the synchronization to complete.

  4. Connect the store again by following the steps to connect your existing store, while logged in to the Shopify store you want to connect.

If you started the setup outside AutoDS, for example by installing the AutoDS app manually from the Shopify App Store before finishing the guided setup, uninstall the app and restart the entire setup from the AutoDS platform, as explained in how to start the setup from the AutoDS platform.

If your store still does not appear after these steps, please let us know so an agent can verify whether the store is connected to your account.

AutoDS shows errors after Shopify updated staff permissions

When Shopify updates its staff permission system to include more granular controls, errors can appear when you add products through AutoDS, because AutoDS requires specific permissions to upload products and manage inventory.

To enable the permissions AutoDS needs:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  2. Go to "Settings" → "Users and permissions".

  3. Select the staff member to update.

  4. Enable these permissions:

    • "Products": "View products", "Create and edit products", and "Manage inventory".

    • "Apps": "Manage and install apps".

Product import to your store(s) has failed. The shop is frozen due to an outstanding balance.

This message means your Shopify store is currently unavailable because Shopify has an outstanding balance for the store, for example, an unpaid Shopify subscription. While the store is unavailable, AutoDS does not make product changes, including importing a draft as a product.

To make the store available again:

  1. Log in to your Shopify account.

  2. Verify that your payment method is valid, and update it or add a new one if necessary.

  3. Confirm that your Shopify subscription is active. If the store stays unavailable, ask Shopify to reactivate it through the Shopify contact page.

  4. Retry the action in AutoDS once the store is active. Imports work as normal after that.

If the message still appears after your Shopify store is active again, please let us know.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I connect more than one Shopify store to AutoDS?

You can connect more than one Shopify store to AutoDS when your subscription plan supports multiple stores, which lets you manage different niches or markets from one platform without separate accounts. Each subscription plan tier has a store limit, and the Shopify Starter plan supports one store only. The tiers are explained in the subscription plans, and the message about too many stores explains what to do if the number of stores goes above your plan.

How can I keep the store that AutoDS builds with AI hidden until I finish setting it up?

When AutoDS builds a new Shopify store for you with AI (AI Pre-built Shopify Store), the store needs to be published during the setup, so that AutoDS can complete the setup and activate all integrations. Once the process is finished, go to your Shopify settings and enable password protection again to keep the store private until you are ready to launch it publicly. The setup steps are in the steps to build your Shopify store with AI.

What is the difference between a store that AutoDS builds with AI and a store from Build Your Store?

A store that AutoDS builds with AI (AI Pre-built Shopify Store) and a store from Build Your Store (BYS) come from two different services. The AI option is a feature inside the AutoDS platform that creates a Shopify store and adds 10 trending products based on your niche, and you reach it when you add a store to AutoDS, with AutoDS connected automatically. BYS is a standalone platform, outside AutoDS, that creates a fully designed Shopify store with professional themes, with its own account, billing, and support team, so the BYS charge does not appear as AutoDS. In BYS, you connect your AutoDS account to add products through AutoDS. The Professional One Product Store offered during the AutoDS setup is the BYS Pro store, as explained in how to get the Professional One Product Store.

One step in Build Your Store asks me to use "our official link". What should I do?

Register through the BYS website so that the flow starts from the official link. If the message still appears after you use that link, please share the exact link you used and a screenshot with us so we can look into it.

Where can I find my Shopify Store ID?

You can find your Shopify Store ID in the browser address bar after you log in to your Shopify admin at admin.shopify.com. The Store ID is the string of letters and numbers that appears after /store/ in the URL. We may ask for this ID when we look into a store connection.
