When to use OTP with your buyer account
Amazon requires Two-Step Verification (2SV) for secure access. When using AutoDS automation, OTP setup ensures that your connected Amazon account can be accessed automatically.
This applies to both automation modes:
-
Auto-Order (full automation): AutoDS places Amazon orders for you and updates tracking.
-
Auto-Order (semi-automation): You place the order manually, but AutoDS updates tracking information for your customers.
Without OTP configured correctly, AutoDS cannot process or update Amazon orders.
Prerequisites
-
Your Amazon buyer account must already be connected to AutoDS.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What happens if I set up OTP with my phone number instead of an authenticator app?
A: AutoDS only supports OTP codes generated by an authenticator app. If you are using phone/SMS verification, disable it, remove your number, and re-enable it with the authenticator app.
Q: I completed the setup, but my Amazon account appears as “On Hold” in AutoDS. What should I do?
A: Hover over the “On Hold” status to see the error.
If OTP is not showing in AutoDS, repeat the OTP setup:
-
Open Amazon in Incognito and check where the OTP was sent.
-
Remove phone/email from Amazon 2SV.
-
Re-enable 2SV with the authenticator app.
-
Re-enter the verification key in AutoDS.
-
Confirm that OTP codes refresh in AutoDS.
Q: Will this setup allow AutoDS to fully automate my Amazon orders?
A: Yes. Once OTP is properly configured, AutoDS can automatically place orders and update tracking, depending on your automation settings:
-
Full automation: AutoDS places orders and updates tracking using your Amazon buyer account.
-
Semi-automation: You place orders manually, and AutoDS updates tracking automatically.

Q: Can I switch between full automation and semi-automation after setting up OTP?
A: Yes. You can switch anytime in your buyer account settings. For semi-automation only, select the Auto Tracking Numbers option.
Q: Why don’t I see an OTP code in AutoDS?
A: This usually happens when the authenticator app is not set as the default Two-Step Verification (2SV) method in Amazon.
To fix this:
-
Open an Incognito Window in Chrome and log in to your Amazon account.
-
Check where the OTP is being sent (phone or email).
-
If Amazon is sending codes to your phone/email, disable Two-Step Verification.
-
Delete the phone number/email from your Amazon security settings.
-
Re-enable 2SV and select the Authenticator App method.
-
Reconnect your Amazon account to AutoDS and confirm the OTP field now displays the code.
