eBay: AutoDS VERO Protection

Learn how AutoDS protects your store from VERO violations

Introduction

Protecting your store from potential trademark and copyright violations is essential to keeping your eBay account healthy. AutoDS provides a built-in VERO Protection System with a comprehensive list of restricted brands, regularly updated to help you avoid violations.

This guide explains:

  • How AutoDS’ VERO system works

  • The difference between warning and critical alerts

  • What happens when a VERO item is detected

  • Frequently asked questions, including what to do if you face an MC011 restriction

Benefits

  • Prevent eBay VERO violations and restrictions from other selling channels

  • Protect your store from listing copyrighted, trademarked, or brand-restricted products

  • Save time by automatically filtering out risky or unwanted items before upload

  • Keep your account healthy and reduce takedown risks

AutoDS VERO Protection System

AutoDS maintains the largest and most up-to-date VERO protection list in the industry. It includes:

  • eBay’s VERO program brands (updated regularly)

  • Brands copyrighted by their owners that require authorization to list

  • Prohibited items such as “knife” or “alcohol”

  • Entire categories blocked (e.g., medical items)

The list is updated regularly using:

  • Reports from AutoDS users via support

  • Weekly scans of VERO violation messages

⚠️ Important

Brand and copyright violations are highly dynamic, and no system can guarantee full protection against eBay’s VERO restrictions.

To minimize risk, we strongly recommend that you manually maintain your own Keywords Blacklist, adding any specific brands, terms, or keywords relevant to your store.

This ensures better protection, especially against newer or niche violations that automated systems may not catch in real time. This article explains how to use the Keywords Blacklist feature to help with that.

What happens when uploading a VERO item

If you try to upload an item on the VERO list, the draft creation will fail.

Bypass option (⚠️ risky)

You can bypass the block at your own risk:

  1. Try uploading the item again.

  2. Click the arrow beside the Next step.

  3. Go to Edit Upload Settings.

  4. Click Edit under Supplier Settings.

  5. In the pop-up, check Allow Vero/Blocked Keywords.

  6. Add the product to drafts.

Your item will now be uploaded despite the VERO alert.

⚠️ Important: This is risky and may lead to account restrictions. By bypassing the block, you accept full responsibility.

Warnings and critical alerts

There are two types of alerts in AutoDS:

  • Warning: Marked with a yellow exclamation mark. This means the VERO word appears in the title or description.

  • Critical: Marked with a red exclamation mark. This means the VERO word appears in the manufacturer field and most likely the item has copyright.

Possible Issues & Workarounds

Issue Workaround
I uploaded a new product I’m sure is VERO, but I was not warned

The system will not alert you before uploa. It prevents the product from uploading. If you believe an item should be added to the VERO list, open a support ticket with evidence (eBay’s warning screenshot).

I uploaded from the Finder and received a VERO violation from eBay

The Finder uses eBay’s category suggestions by default. If eBay miscategorizes (e.g., adult products), AutoDS cannot block it. Use your own Keyword Blacklist to prevent risky uploads.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: eBay blocked my account for brand misuse. What does it mean?
A: This occurs when you list an item using a brand name that doesn’t belong to it. For example, if you sell a generic pink pig doll but use the term “Peppa Pig,” eBay considers it brand misuse. This is not a VERO issue but a mislabeling problem.

Q: Why was I not warned about a VERO product before upload?
A: The system blocks uploads containing VERO terms rather than warning beforehand. If you encounter an item that should be blocked, report it to AutoDS Support with evidence.
